LEGACY OF FAMILY INHERITANCE

Exodus 20:4–6 (ESV)

“You shall not make for yourself a carved image, or any likeness of anything that is in heaven above, or that is in the earth beneath, or that is in the water under the earth. 5 You shall not bow down to them or serve them, for I the Lord your God am a jealous God, visiting the iniquity of the fathers on the children to the third and the fourth generation of those who hate me, 6 but showing steadfast love to thousands of those who love me and keep my commandments.

Proverbs 13:22 (ESV)

A good man leaves an inheritance to his children’s children, but the sinner’s wealth is laid up for the righteous.

Inheritance:  something of value that is left to future generations.  It is divided or distributed at the determination of the one who owns or created the asset being distributed.

Matthew 6:19–21 (ESV)

“Do not lay up for yourselves treasures on earth, where moth and rust destroy and where thieves break in and steal, 20 but lay up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where neither moth nor rust destroys and where thieves do not break in and steal. 21 For where your treasure is, there your heart will be also.

Prov 22:1

a good name is to be treasured over riches

1.   Strategic Personal Effort to Live our Faith

Mark 12:30 (ESV)

And you shall love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind and with all your strength.’

2.   Spiritual Investment Strategy

Deuteronomy 6:6–9 (ESV)

And these words that I command you today shall

be on your heart. 7 You shall teach them diligently to your children, and shall talk of them when you sit in your house, and when you walk by the way, and when you lie down, and when you rise. 8 You shall bind them as a sign on your hand, and they shall be as frontlets between your eyes. 9 You shall write them on the doorposts of your house and on your gates.

1 Corinthians 15:32–34 (ESV)

What do I gain if, humanly speaking, I fought with beasts at Ephesus? If the dead are not raised, “Let us eat and drink, for tomorrow we die.” 33 Do not be deceived: “Bad company ruins good morals.”34 Wake up from your drunken stupor, as is right, and do not go on sinning. For some have no knowledge of God. I say this to your shame.

3.   Finding and Living in God’s Purpose for our Lives

Proverbs 16:25 (ESV)

There is a way that seems right to a man, but its end is the way to death.

Proverbs 19:21 (ESV)

Many are the plans in the mind of a man, but it is the purpose of the Lord that will stand.
